Computer Memories

Anyone remember this ? A forerunner to the internet back in the early 80's
I was emailing and swapping games even as a kid!! I was only 12 but they payed me £50 a pop to write game reviews for them!
Attach a "Prism VTX 5000" to your Speccy and off you went...
or if you were a rich kid with a BBC'B, you'd plug a Miracle WS2000 modem into it...

I had one of those (with my Atari). The lightning 1200/75 mode. I used to run a bulletin board, one of those where you had to ring once, then ring back. If I left the 'upload' on even back then I used to get people uploading all kinds of bizarre pornography and games.

I had an IBM PC AT. It was an AT-X actually, with a faster bus (+1MHz?) and a 30GB fullheight fixed disk, instead of a 20GB...
I also had an Amstrad PC1640 HD with an EGA display and a 20GB MFM/RLL fixed disk.....

BBC at school then my parents bought me a C64
First game I bought for it Choplifter and radar rat race...
Wasted huge amounts of time on the Ultima series and Wasteland (forerunner to Fallout)
Then kinda fell into making them
First game I helped on
Lemon - Commodore 64 Heaven!
First game I wrote, still the one I enjoyed making the most
Lemon - Commodore 64 Heaven!
Cheers

Lol I remember my dad getting some magazine for the Amstrad that amongst other articles had one that told you the code to create your own games like Da Bells. Took us all weekend between us to type the code and error check it. Well impressed until next week they gave you a full copy on tape attached to the front of the mag. PMSL!
