Question Widescreen PC Monitor - advice please

Hi - I'm looking at getting a larger widescreen TFT monitor to replace a blurry 17" CRT (pressie from wife )

20 - 22" - Something like this CIBOX C2201 22'' Widescreen TFT 1680x1050 1000:1 300cd/m2 5ms inc speakers 3 Years Warranty

Or this has DVI Samsung SM206BW 20" 2ms 3000:1 Tilt & Swivel DVI Widescreen TFT

It is 1680x1050 pixels which I thought would be better for watching HD movies? - does it make any difference?

Does having DVI make much difference to D-Sub ? - is it worth paying extra for a DVI monitor? - My graphics card is a 6600GT (Thanks Melon ) which has both output ports.

I am anticipating being able to put in a HD DVD drive in the not too distant future and watch movies on the PC. - maybe the kids will use it for games...

I like the idea of being able to have 2/3 documents open side by side (...by side - only funny if you've seen 'Sky High' I guess )

Also advice on dragging PC into lounge & connecting to TV - S-video connection - still got CRT - or is there a way of transmitting via home Network?

Anyway - any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

Cheers

Mick

I've got the Samsung 226BW, bloody brilliant!
Got it from PC World (reserved it online) and it ended up cheaper than buying it from anywhere online!

I've got the Samsung SM206BW and whilst it's a great screen, it's not without some faults. For starters, any adjustment using the buttons on the screen below around 90% brightness and an annoying buzz appears.

You can tune the brightness via your graphics card no probs though, so it's not too much of an issue.

Also, the backlight tends to be brighter at the bottom than it is the top, meaning you need to tilt the monitor forward to get the best view from it, or at least I do anyway.

I also notice some ghosting, although others say there is none. When playing FIFA 07 the screen definately struggles to keep up with the gameplay. Although this could possibly be my system, I am convinced it is the screen.

However for a TFT, I am impressed by it. It's about the best of any I have seen. Still no match for a good CRT though, especially for graphic design. I moved up from an NEC 17" CRT that blew the Samsung away for quality to be honest. But I do prefer the extra real estate!
