OSX 10.4.10 update produces "pop"
Afternoon Mac guru's !
Just updated to the latest 10.4.10. Noticed that my Mini now "pops" from the speakers immediately before and approx 29 seconds after any sound is played.
Mac Mini Intel, combo update applied from 10.4.9.
Connected via audio out to Denon Amp and external speakers.
Totally reproduceable by just amending the sound levels.
Normally gives a solo 'pwick' sound, but this is now suplimented by a deep 'pop.. pwick... > 29 seconds "pop".
Booted to 10.4.9 from external disk a†tempted to reproduce and works perfectly. No abnormal sounds.
Off to read the Apple discussions.
Anyone else had this ? Or is it just me ?
Cheers
Mark

For now it's a minor annoyance, if it gets annoying I'll run on my 10.4.9 until a solution is found.

No problem at all. My guess is the next security update might fix it. Having said that, there was a security update released over the weekend, have you applied that? If not then backup your machine and then apply the sec update and see if it makes any difference at all.

Yep all upto date, issue still occurs. Currently it's a minor inconvenience for me as I'm running from external disk on 10.4.9
We'll see what Apple does shortly. The thread on Apple Discussion group was getting a little heated !

Macfixit's current lead article (well, from yesterday) explains the issue, and offers a workaround and a fix (not an official Apple fix though) and more info on the problem.

Mark,
Am bumping this as Apple seems to have released a fix for the popping issue. Have a read of the article here. It also includes a download link for the fix, which is also available via Software Update.
