Default Help-Xbox 360 screen freezing

Just got Forza 2 and the 360 keeps freezing and going a bit pixelated after a few mins (now with all games), its just shows a normal green light and is about 19 months old........

It's more than likely going to need to be sent back to microsoft. It will cost you about £80 too as its too old to still be under warranty

Just happened to mine - around 19 months old too. Playing Forza 2. Now it freezes after a few seconds, up to a minute if lucky.

My did the same and with Forza 2 aswell!!

Hope you have better luck with Microsoft then I have, they told me a week ago that they would send me labels so i could send it back. Its been a week and 6 calls and no labels.

They told me today that somehow my request will take another 5 days!! I moaned and they offered me 3 games (all very old) or a live vision camera. Took the camera but i would rather be playing Forza right now!! Getting fed up of my mates telling me about the game

Now got the rings of death, could someone please tell me how to contact a microsoft repair center as Google doesn't help much.
There are also some self help repairs in PDF files on the net or specialist repair centers who charge £50 is this advisable.

My 360 froze twice last night in short sucession.
Turned it off for 5 mins and played again for an hour perfectly fine!?

No artifacts on the screen though, just like it had hung. Used to happen all the time with PGR3 when I first got it (launch day machine). Happened a few times with Crackdown too.

Hmmm well I'll be hammering the 360 a lot this weekend on Forza 2 so it'll either kill or cure it

Geez these 360's are super unreliable arent they. Sounds like vritually every1 who actually uses one properly has the thing fail on them completely. Not very good at all. What are MS playing at?

hardly everyone.
mines got the ring of death currently, going to strip out the heatsinks and try some of the diy repairs as mine has code 0020 unknown error but never crashes just displays the red ring when you turn it on 25% of the time.
Live makes it all worthwhile imo

I cant believe this.

I'm still waiting. Its been 13 days since the original call and 11 calls. today it took over 60 mins of being on hold.

I asked them to post the labels to me instead as they obviously can't use email but they send this would take 5 days and email would be quicker

13 days!! All I've been given is a free livevision camera which was sent to me in 2 days. I'm so P1ssed off with Microsoft at the moment.

My betting is it will be another week

Forza will be a "classic" by the time I get a working machine.

heh ok well nearly everyone in this thread for a starter.

So let me get this straight. You've paid 200-300 odd quid, for state of the art gaming, and your happy are you that you have to strip the thing down, just in case it completely screws up in the near future? DIY repairs? on a new device? wtf?

As you said the rings of death are the 1st signs of complete failure. If I had bought one, and these symptoms happen, I know I wouldnt be happy.

I've had similar problems with mine too, it was away for 10 days, got it back with the same fault. (it's definately the console as it wont run on my brothers PSU or HD either).

It was then away for nearly 15 days, part of that was because DHL didn't deliver it back to the repair centre for 5 days. ( I could have dropped it off in Portsmouth, but they won't let you buck the system)

Yep same as me https://www.scoobynet.com/computer-r...ing-death.html

I have just bought one of those "intercoolers" for it - hopefully will not get as hot as it did - not that it gets used for 5+hours at a time????

was nothing to do with overheating. It had only been on for 5 mins As soon as it did anything intensive like start a Forza race it froze up.

At least the new one should come back with the new additional heatsink which may help . . .

What do they expect you to do then? return it in the original box?

Mine's been locking up quite frequently, yet yesterday I played on it for 5 hours without a hitch!? I'm not entirely sure it's not crap coding in Forza 2.

Unlikely to be naff coding in Forza2. I've played it for many hours (had a 5+ hour session at the weekend) and not had a single lock up...

ProdriveSTI, be careful with those intercoolers. They can cause more damage than they do good...

I guess so, or in whatever box you have lying around. Might send mine back in the Wii box just for a laugh

Mine all happened pretty fast. Locked up in the auction house on Forza, so I backed up as much as possible to memory card, now it won't even boot past the startup animation. Still no red lights though (did once), just artifacts and freezing.

Annoying as it sits horizintally in a totally open unit with best possible airflow.
