Rock Vs Alienware
I am in the market for a new laptop, whilst I want this to be able to run the latest games, I dont want it to cost the earth.
I suppose a rough budget would be around £1500.
I have heard pros and cons for both companies, if it was your money who would you buy from?
It needs to be a laptop as I wont have the space for the desktop.
My current desktop has been superb, athlon 64, 3200+ and hasnt missed a beat, runs stalker with no worries. I would like something equivalent in terms of power and ability - if not better.
Thanks

Get the Rock. They have good customer service for the most part. They also have a forum to contact them if phoning should fail.
I've not heard of people having many problems with the CTX Pro (the laptop you should get).
It has a seriously good spec.
Personally I'd go with the 2.16 or 2.33ghz cpu
2gb of RAM
the 100gb 7200rpm Hard drive and whatever else takes your fancy from their options.
Its a hardcore laptop with the 7950GTX, can't really be beaten bang for bucks.
Alienware make lovely laptops but they are way too expensive for what you get.

Thanks for the input Mike, its kind of where I was leaning towards anyway, thanks for confirming that for me.

I have a Rock Pegasus 665 not as powerful as you require but I've had no problems in over 9 months and it gets used everyday .

The Dell XPS (M1710) is a very good laptop..very similar specs to the ROCK but you do get the XPS (treated like royalty) warranty.
I don't use ebay but I have seen them on there for good prices..but you pay a big premium over the ROCK if you buy direct from dell.

Alienware = Dell
As Mike Said - go for the M1710 with the 7950 GTX card.
Dell are reducing lots of the M1710's status as they are about to bring out the new DX10 compatible flagship laptop. If you've been watching prices recently, you'd have noticed that the top end M1710's have dropped by about £300 in two months.
They are even cheaper through an e-bay reseller.
RECOMMENDATION:
The DX10 compatible cards will be brought out in Q3/4 of this year. If you are looking for a gaming rig I'd really recommend that you hold off till then.
There is a chance that if you go the M1710 route you *might* be able to upgrade to a DX10 card - but the cooling required might be to much for the M1710 chassis

As said, the laptop is great: very powerful indeed.
Go for one with a Core 2 processor, a couple of Gig ram, a 512 Nividia 7950 GTX GPU and I don't think you'll be found wanting for performance for quite a while.
