Default Disposal of old PC components - charity?

Does anyone know of any charitable organisations who receive/recycle old PC components?

I build/upgrade my own PC's (have 4 in total) and after the last year or two of upgrading seem to have quite a stack of old parts. None of it is anywhere near state of the art - it consists of things such as P4 2.4GHz, Athlon XP3000+ CPU's, 256/512Mb sticks of DDR RAM, old nVidia graphics card (6800 being the best), motherboards, PSU's, hard drives etc.

It would seem a shame for it to end up down at the dump as most of it is in ok working order, and I'm sure there are lots of people on this planet who could make use of it.

Gary.

I'm pretty sure there are people out there doing this - I've got a feeling Green Standards do a bit under their 'waste to wonder' program.

Charity aside, some of that kit is probably still worth some beer money on ebay?

I'll make an inventory of the parts and post them up. Then anyone here who wants the parts can have them.

I thought this might cover it but maybe it's only for business donators.

"We also welcome peripherals and spare parts including laptop power adaptors, power cables, keyboards and mice."

Like you say, shame to be binning stuff that's more powerful than used in the moon landings!!

I will take the Nvidia card and some other bits off you if its other alternative is the skip

Building a cheap gaming machine and told the other half i can do it for very little money, after the PS3 purchase she is holding me to it

So far i have cleaned up an old tower and got it running a 5800 Nvidia card my mate had spare and some extra SDR RAM, again from what he had lying around.

My wifes machine has died - so I've had to donate mine to her to use for work stuff...

I'm currently running an AMD K6 3D 350 with 128+64 MB RAM and a AGPx1 Grpahics card, Win98SE! Aaaargghhh! - It is sooooo... slow!

- so there are people out there who could do with an old 6800 Vid card My 'good' machine only has a 6600GT

If you offered the parts for sale the main hassle is getting all the bits posted out really...

Have a nice day...

If there's any DDR memory left, then I'd ahppily take it off your hands. Kids PCs at home only have 128Mb at the moment, so struggles with games etc.

Happy to pay for postage.

Ok here are the parts in the accessible boxes.

Gigabyte P4 Motherboard, AGP, Sata (going to Sonic)
P4 2.4GHz CPU (800Mhz FSB) with heatsink (sitting in above MB) (going to Sonic)
2 x 512MB Crucial PC3200 DDR RAM (sitting in above MB) (going to Sonic)
nVidia 6800 Graphics Card (fan has come away slightly, but DIY repair should be possible and card was working when I took it out) (going to NWMark)
Soundblaster Live Card x 2 (one is going to NWMark)
160GB Maxtor Hard Disk ATA133 (IDE) (going to Lightning101)
Jeantech 420W PSU
nVidia Ti4400 Graphics Card (Creative)
nVidia Ti300 Graphics Card x 2
10/100 Ethernet Card x 2
Athlon XP1900+ CPU and Heatsink (going to Mart360)
Abit KR7A Motherboard (may be nackered, not sure)
Athlon XP3000+ CPU plus heatsink (going to DJUK)
512MB Crucial DDR 333MHz CL2.5 RAM (going to DJUK)
256MB Crucual DDR 266MHz CL2.5 RAM x 2 (going to Mart360)

Drop me a PM if anyone definitely wants any of the above stuff. I'll give priority to anyone who has already said they want stuff in the thread above. Don't want any money for the items themselves, just the postage cost for anything I can't stick in an envelope.

Gary.
