Broadband Size:XL speed increase

Traffic Shaping is now in effect for everyone though

Between the hours of 4pm and 12pm, if you go about a certain limit your connection drops!!

No good for me as again I did a test last night direct to the Cable modem and not my router as usual i got 1mbps to the virgin tests server that they use as a test and to EVERYHWERE ELSE it was running at between 1 and 2m from every online test site i could find... called my mate with a DSL 8m connection and the same tests read 6-7m... that to me shows telewest\virgins links out are ****e...
Anyhow will be doing the same test each evening now and if its still crap I'll be taking my £444 per year elswhere

And me to pimmo please... not exactly happy when I'm spending that kind of money each year, i can get better average throughput for half the layout...
Midnight and these are the results... did a few more but pretty much all the same... loading images even from scoobynet menbers gallery is like having my old ISDN2 lines again never mind 10m £37 a month top of the range broadband... complete rubbish TBH and no I don't hardly download anything, just expect it to be quick pretty much whenever i use it ...

Suprise suprise the server Virgin use to to tell me everything is ok 10mb

So, once you've had a ban, does the limiter reset, or what?

Yeh but I'd not been on the net fro two days!!!!!!! so WTF is all that about...
I don't download stuff anyhow, so there's no way I'd be anywhere near a download limit...

just done 8 tests now and the virgin tests are 1.1mbps, out to the rest of the net its 6m to 8 different test sites...

4pm and 12pm

if it breaks 3gb upload + download you get a half speed limit for 4 hours, even if you break it at 1 minute to 12, the 4 hours kicks in

The virgin page only mentions quotas on download traffic, not download + upload.

Please can you clarify?

The information I've been given is that it adds your upload and download amounts together and if that breaks the limit your on time out !

Cheers, although the discrepancy with the official statement doesn't really clarify anything
