Sonicpoint WAP
Anyone run one of these ickle buggers?
I have a laptop that can connect at home & loads of other places no problem. However, attempting to connect to this, it will "connect" but get back no DHCP info etc. However, pick up a company laptop which has never been connected before and it'll jump on straight away
I have tried 2 different PCMCIA cards and a USB dongle, all compatible with the unit (A, B & G) but always the same.
I have been through the Sonicwall rules (we have an admin console on our 3060 in which there is the SP's config - should I do a console connect?) and I should have no restrictions. Not running MAC addresses at the moment, in fact no security at all on the basis anyone can connect and get a free ride to web-browser if they're visiting & whilst we get it sorted. They can't access the rest of the network, checked that but that doesn't help me!
The "only" thing I can think of is that my lappy is not part of the company domain (its mine!!), so is not registered in AD and I am not authenticated on it obviously, would that be it? Pita if I have to join the company domain etc on what is my personal lappy! Obviously that can be changed, but where in the rules?
Another personal lappy was unable to connect to the company network either but I have no problems with a bit of ethernet
This is really annoying me as although I could have a company lappy, they're not as small and portable as my sub-note, but I need the flexibility they have around the office. Grr!

What version of SonicOS are you running on the 3060 ? The only time I've seen this was with Dell laptops running Microsoft drivers on the wireless rather than the Intel ones (card was a 2200BG I think).
There have been a number of fixes for SonicPoints over the last few versions of SonicOS.

If you want I can take a look at the config to see if there is anything odd going on....jww@dclick.co.uk
