Mac - basic image editing
Is there something for my Mac a la Paint on Windows - enable basic editing, converting image file formats and sensible resizing?
The freer the better as well.
TIA

The two packages I use are Graphic Convertor (not free but $30 I think) which is very good, and Photoshop CS2 (part of the Adobe CS2 package) which is very very good, but not exactly cheap.
If you were tempted by Photoshop, I'd hold off until later this month as CS3 will be released which will be the first Universal build of CS which means it should scream along on the intel machines.

CS3 could well be over the top, as it will include InDesign, Illustrator and whatever else is in there. Just PS3 might be ok, but you're right, it is a high end editing package, but it is fairly easy to use.
I'll admit to being more than happy with GC, and I've used it for many years, mainly for the Conversion option, specifically the batch tool, which allowed me to create thumbnail versions of all my pictures, in a separate folder structure, whilst preserving the originals. Perfect for a website.
One thing I did not address in my previous post was the "cost" aspect of things. I guess it all depends on how legal you want your software to be Having said that, both CS2 (and you may be able to just obtain Photoshop) and GC do have 30 day trials available, perfect for seeing if they meet your needs before purchasing.
