Rumor: New Xbox 360 SKU coming May 1?
Posted Feb 19th 2007 9:30PM by Blake Snow
Is a new Xbox 360 SKU headed to retail or not? Well both 1UP and Game Informer reported on the matter over the weekend with varying bits of information and in light of recent price drop rumors.
1UP suggests that Microsoft may have lowered existing 360 shipments in an effort to flush out old inventory in favor of newly enhanced hardware; like consoles with HDMI support and a larger hard drive. Game Informer was a lot more specific in saying: "Retailers have confirmed that the new SKU is in their systems, set for a May 1 release for $479.99. In addition to the new [HDMI] interface, the system would also pack a 120 GB hard drive into its nifty black exterior."
Keep in mind this is all conjecture, however, as Microsoft's Shane Kim told 1UP last week that the company has "nothing to announce at this time" regarding new SKUs. Still, the grapevine implies that something's brewing over at Microsoft's Xbox division.

I'm sure something will happen but when who knows. We know 65nm (or whatever) is coming. We know that a bigger HD was always going to happen. The only real news if and when is the HDMI.
I've just ordered a 360. Premium. Should cost me £208 all in. If a new one is released I'll look to sell this new one and buy the new version.

I pre-ordered my copy from HMV (£34.99) after loving the demo. Looking foward to playing this. Still got lots of unplayed games still in wrappers I need to crack on with too though. Work & women are so inconvenient, really plays havoc with your gaming time.

Still on my original launch day machine!
I usually have around 5Gb free on the h/d at any one time. If MS do start their TV and movies download service then I'd think about upgrading.
Having a HDMI socket would be nice but even with the 360 plugged into the componet sockets on the TV there are still plenty of connection options available.
