Broadband and Win98
A mate has had nthell broadband fitted today but no-one told him he needs win200 or XP to use it?
He's got Win98 at the moment so i was wondering if i used my XP-pro disc to update (or do full re=install) his system would it work?
I remember a year or so ago when i got a new system i used my XP disk and i got reminders from microsoft saying i had so many days to register or it would be terminated. I contacted them to say i was only using it on 1 system and that was fine (i scrapped the old computer), but with it now being on my system will microsoft terminate mine if i install it on my mates?

heres a quick fix for you, just download an illegal copy and put it on his system for him . turn on auto updates and your all set .Microsoft allows autoupdates to any computer whether genuine or not just google how to put service pack 2 in with a ripped copy its a simple program that finds a legit cd key for you.there are ways just seek and ye will find.

Alternatively, if you have an ethernet network card in his pc, then you should be able to connect the cable modem to the pc via the ethernet cable and it should all work fine, (I've run NTL BB on win98 like this before with no problem)
The only reason I can think of why it wouldn;t work on win98 is if you are connecting the modem via usb, (which is not a nice way of doing it anyway).
