changeing a PSU

Before starting look at the existing plugs from the PSU and check where they go, then identify them on the new PSU.
If you have any doubt, take some pictures with a digital camera for reference (as long as the camera has a screen to view them on...).

There is going to be another little power cable to plug into the video card (its the one you plug the monitor into. Like the one here:

Sounds wierd; it's possible to knock the graphics card so it doesn't sit right in the slot, but as you then tried your old PSU I guess this isn't the problem.
Why are you chaging the PSU if your old one works?? What are the specs of the old one and new one?
Not sure this info will help much; the graphics doesn't use a different power supply section or anything - if the rest of the PC works the graphics should too.

the old psu is on its way out and is 250w. the new one is an Akasa 500w (using a guide on here to calculate the required wattage before i purchased it).
will have another do and let you know how i got on.
