Default loading internet explorer

Hi Need help before the pc goes through the window!!
Ive just tried to change my windows xp pro to media edition on my spare pc to use as a media player through tv etc.
I have two genuine disks for media edition, but it wont load internet explorer, the files appear corrupt.

I cannot install my broadband software as the disk is asking for a version of IE, and hasnt got a copy to install. I downloaded ie 7 ran it but it then asked for genuine advantage check, which isnt aproblem, but needs Bl**dy IE to be installed first. I then downloaded an old version of ie6, but because i ran a bit of 7 it says that a newer version is already installed, so stopped. I have tried using the XP disk to remove all version of IE, but to no avail.

I am now guessing that i need to remove all traces from the registry, to start from scratch with 6 again, but dont know where to start.

Firefox isnt an option at present as my broadband set up disk isnt compatable with it.

Help please?
