Default Laptop memory??

Just acquired my wifes old work laptop, old as in only 2 years old.

Her boss bought her a new one as this one was too slow - not surprising only having 128mb ram, and showing as 96mb!!

It's an "IPC" own brand/build type thing but with decent spec, 1.6ghz AMD, blah blah and will be used by me for surfing the net only when in the lounge, plus the odd bit of work.

I need a 512mb stick for it, but not sure what sort to buy. The 128 stick in there just has PC2100 128mb written on it.

I'm not clued up on lappys, so what do I buy? There seems to be 200 pin SODIMM, and 144 pin or something.

That's the problem, its a non brand thing so the Crucial site won't work.

It just has IPC on the cover, and something to do with Tek Support in York apparently. Looks like a self build.

Right, more info now.

It's an IPC Powernote M laptop from these guys - IPC Multimedia Ltd

Still can't find the memory info though. I would think PC2100 SODIMM 200 pin should be OK?

Have you tried the blue Scan My System button on the front page of www.crucial.com/uk ?

Found it now, the Mrs had a manual for it and it listed the specs in there!!

It needs a new battery though, and they're £110 so need to check with her boss whether I can keep it before chucking £150 at it for battery/memory.
