Question Overwritten Word Doc.

Right guys, can anyone help with this one ?
A mate's young lad has been doing his homework (commendable for a a schoolboy now-a-days) and has typed a long word doc but has somehow managed to overwrite it
Is there a temp file anywhere where we could retrieve it or indeed is there a tool that could be d/loaded so we can find the file prior to the change ?
Any help will save him getting 10 of the best from the teacher......and his Dad !!

Cheers

Paul.

Bit of a long shot but the only thing I can think of to try really is to look at the auto recovery path which is normally C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word and look to see if you have any files with the file extension ASD (Obviously with a similar date to when he worked on the file in question)
If you do, launch MS Word and choose FILE , OPEN and point to the path above and SINGLE click on the file. Now instead of clicking on the OPEN button as normal click the arrow pointing downwards next to the OPEN button and choose the option OPEN and REPAIR.
I managed to recover a document this way for one of our directors after he'd worked on it for 3 hours, didn't save it and then his PC crashed lol

Good luck

Nick
