word of warning guys, the Kenwood WILL NOT
fit into older cars! There is a plastic surround that goes around the unit and this can be trimmed on the horizontal axis but not the vertical. The only options are to either leave the surround off, hack the dash up or get them to give you a good deal on a Pioneer 7100 OEL thingy ;o)

Question

geezas,

I have just got hold of a Kenwood 7080R
and am wondering if it easy enough to fit?

It has an ISO connector on the headunits
wiring loom, will it plug straight in?

And..which ISO connector will it use?

ta,
Matt

Cool

When I had mine fitted (January this year) I was watching the fitter and it seemed pretty straightforward. I was replacing an aging Sony unit and he just popped it out checked the leads and put the Kenwood in.

Kenwood 5080R went straight into my Dutch MY00 - just unplug one ISO plug and aerial from the old HU and plug the new one and aerial in. There are two parts to the factory ISO connector - they each go into half of the Kenwood ISO connector (check where the blank pins are on socket and plug to match up). 10 minute job max. You also need to change the metal cage to the one supplied with the Kenwood. Use the U shaped extractor pieces that should have been in your glovebox from new to extract the old HU. Push the wires to one side once new HU in to enable it to go in easier (can be quite tight with all the extra wiring on new HU, phonos etc). Even a DIY idiot like me managed it.

Mattski,

I believe you purchased said head unit from this very BB, I also put in an offer but only after you'd made the winning bid :-(

If you now need to get rid of it, then please let me know, I will gladly take it off your hands for about the same price as you paid for it.
