Default Bug in my web browser help please!

Hi all.
Got a bug in my web browser which I canīt seem to shift.
When I go to favourites eg BBC - bbc.co.uk homepage - Home of the BBC on the Internet or ScoobyNet - The Subaru Impreza and Performance Car Community - site I go to alot the site is blocked and a new site pops ups. A search engine type page with a weird mixture of **** and other links often IT or job related.

The site varies but is always of a similar format. and is prefixed by Site ABC

This is now happening after Google searches. When I do a search say for Scooby. The list of links comes up under that topic. When you click on a link. Guess what. Bloody site ABC comes up.

I have norton anti virus stuff on my computer but it is telling me is OK.

Any ideas on how to get shot of this

Thanks
Steve

Edited becauce the virus site was coming up as a clicky!

You've gone and got the pox. Well, the internet version of it anyway. Affectionately known as "Adware" if you're in the business and "A right royal pain in the ****" if you're not.

Go to google and search for an application called "Hijack This". It should come from a site called something like Merjin.org.

Download it and run it.

Find and kill any search engine helpers it detects.

Job done.

Seems you've been to a site that has installed some malware without you being aware, NAV won't necessarily pick it up. Try doing a google on "remove XYD" where XYZ is the site your being sent to. Also try installing Spyware Doctor or Microsoft Defender to prevent further occurences

Read: Utilities you must have installed on your system

Forget Ewido though as its been taken over.

After your system has been cleaned, make sure you regularly run "immunization" in Spybot S&D as it blocks the nasty pages that normally auto-installs this crap on your system.

Crap cleaner (ccleaner) pulled off 4gig of unused files when I ran it on a mates computer Handy tool.

Well 5 hours later I have finaly fixed it.
None of the spy ware picked it up. But i was a good thing to run these things as they picked up other bits if crap.

Hit Man Pro / was particularly good thanks

I eventually found the solution on a forum. My DNS address had been hyjacked. But now sorted. Phew.

This is quite a nasty thing that no spyware apparently currently picks up!

If anyone gets redirects to jupk.com from favourite sites, google, ebay etc let me know and I will post the solution.

thanks again
Steve

Start Control Panel Network Connections
Right-click LAN / Internet Connection - properties
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) - properties
Select "Obtain DNS Server address automatically"
Click OK

I had a similar problem to the one at the top of this thread and I just disabled the plug-in. Have now managed to remove the registry entries and remove the program (pesky myway.com)

Anyway cheers for the tip - HIT MAN PRO is ace! Big 's up!
