You just need one of these. PC World is selling them cheap at the moment.

LINKSYS WUSB54GS & WRT54GSUK at PC World - Cheap Wireless DSL Routers - LINKSYS WUSB54GS & WRT54GSUK SPEEDBOOSTER 125g ROUTER AND USB ADAPTER

You can stick the USB W-Fi adapter (that comes free) and your old Ethernet router on on eBay to make it even cheaper.

The other PCs can still connect vie Ethernet still using the ports on the new router.

I'm pretty sure a DSL router will not work with cable broadband.

As you've already got ethernet networking and the laptop will come with wireless, the easiest solution will be to buy a wireless access point. Something like a Buffalo Airstation - that's what I used and I've had no trouble with it. Just plug it into your network, configure it, and you're away.

I know PC World describe it as a DSL router. But it is for cable. See this link and the reviews on Amazon where people with NTL have used it.

Make sure you reboot your modem when you connect the router or it wont work. The modem takes the mac of the first device it connects to and holds it until reboot.
