Oooo - I'll be in Blockbuster tomorrow - though I really should give CoD 3 more time first!

Mine arrived from Gameplay this morning as I was leaving for work, I was so close to calling the office with a sudden case of diarrhea or man flu..

Mine just arrived - and I'm at home today!

First impressions - good graphics, not mind blowing but atmospheric. The cut scenes blend really well with the action, as in it doesn't look like 2 different visualls.... Gameplay is nice with some cool effects like mutiple moving options from cover. Finding it tricky to swap weapons quickly though - but that could just be my lack of co-ordination!

Looking forward to getting more into this one!

Got mine today (and I'm at home as well). Not overly impressed so far. There's no denying that it's pretty, but the gameplay seems very shallow, and the cutscenes are annoying. Might get better as the game progresses though, so I'll stick with it for now...

Yeah its annoying when you die right after a cut scene as you have to sit through it again and again (as I'm crap and keep dying!)

I bought FEAR last week for the 360 - cracking game, very 'half life' so far.

Done Gears first 2 acts and I quite like it, although the Beserker at the end of Act 1 was a bit of a git to get past.

I quite like the level design - the first part is like a derelict version of Naboo from Star Wars - and Act 2 is like Terminator 2. Act 3 feels like Aliens so far...

I think Live is the way to go Iain, from the sounds of things.

Online co-op - I'll look you up on live later

Not another one that's single player game is compromised because multiplayer is deemed far more important than it actually is

Does anyone know of any good reasons why I should hold off buying a console now?

Bigger disk (more likely) /HD DVD just around the corner?

Blockbuster had a deal on with 4 games and 2 wireless and £50 rental vouchers for £350 - seemed pretty good!

Extremely unlikely that HDDVD will ever be anything other than an add on for 360. A bundled larger HDD may be a possibility, but not any time soon - And even if one does come out, you will be able to buy it if you need it, they just clip on and off.

Any large price drop is also unlikely, they are selling well, so no need to reduce the price..

In other words - It's as good a time as any.

I cant see MS adding the HD drive into the 360 for a long time - it'll add so much to the price it'll be going head to head with PS3 - i think they'll be leaving the choice to the consumer whether or not they want HD rather than forcing them into it.

Microsoft have said that games will never be HD-DVD only so as to not alienate gamers who go for the drive.

100GB HDD is on the cards but whether it'll be standard in the future is debateable - I for one and few others I know are often having to delete stuff off the 20gb HDD to make room for new demos' - and of that 20GB, only 13 of it is available to you - the rest is occupied by the OS and cache for the games.

Get one now - there's no point in waiting, and MS are pulling out all the stops getting good titles out to combat Sony - COD3, Gears Of War & Rainbow 6 Vegas appearing.

You're not wrong. I found myself at times stuck in a corner with the Beserker in front of me and I'm literally holding my breath, the missus had to remind me it was only a game and I could breath

So what do you do with the 2nd Beserker - I've got her into the conservatory and she smashes a pillar through a wall but it sets on fire and you cant go through it. There is a wheel on the wall which i think activates the water system but how do you turn the thing on?

I got to the beserker bit last ight (before going to play on live for a bit - "extermination" is great fun).

The intel woman said "Have you still got the hammer of dawn?" to which frinx replid "yes"....

Er, no I haven't I swapped it for a shotgun once I had taken out the seeders! .. I have a horrible feeling I am going to have to start again

Which you here is being a real man and doing it on Hardcore first time round?

Ahh.... slight problem there - I am at the point where the beserker arrives.. I don;t think I can get back to where you first go into the tomb. Shall try later though

It might look pretty, but I've heard it has rather a lot of fmv in it. Pretty graphics do not make a good game by themselves. If I wanted to watch a movie I'd get out a dvd...

I want to get a PS3, but I've still not seen any software announced for it that interests me enough to pay the over-inflated price for the console.
