Super fast 24mb broadband for £24, where is the catch?
Just wondered if any of you lot have used bethere broadband?
I'm naturally suspicious of anything that looks to good to be true, anyone got any nightmare experiences of bethere broadband? When bulldog came out with super fast, super cheap broadband people had awful experiences with em.
I normally go with Freedom2surf, who have been fantastic in everyway, but they offer 8mb with 50gig cap for the same price, bethere offer 24mb dl uncapped!?

My provider has just upgraded me (for free) to 8Mb but my line can only reliably transfer at 4Mb due to the distance we are from the exchange etc. You may well find you have to be next door to the exchange to get that kind of transfer rate.

Hello
BeThere have problems, but generally appear to be okay.
Have a read here: ADSLguide: Viewing a list of posts for some user opinions.

you would have to be v close to the exchange to get close to 24mb (note you will never ever get the full 24mb), however the way be works is different to adsl max it uses different frequencies on the line, so if you only get 4 mb on max it doesnt mean you will only get 4mb with be.
Yuo can check out
The Unofficial Be Users Forum
that will tell you what speed you can expect to get depending on line stats etc. The customer svs was/is in India so may be as bad as bulldogs I am currently waiting for my exchange to be enabled so that I can get it.

If your current router shows downstream attenuation this page will give you a rough indication of what you might get as a maximum from an ADSL2+ service

Just moved from freedom2surf to bethere last friday
no problems with f2s but fed up with the BT element
seemless swap over in about 9 days !
was around 5/6mb download and 200k upload
estimated was 3/4mb
Connected on Friday with 7mb, tweaked the router and now settled to around 8/9mb with peaks of 10mb. - upload around 700/800k
They provide the bebox as the modem\router (only issue is you can only use 3 of the 4 ports) included in the connection\rental - they retain ownership
nice little router, very user friendly and configurable using the DMT application.
had to use customer service twice and even though they are not in this country - no issues, answered quickly and resolved my questions.
so so far - very pleased - we will see if it continues.
Also consider that f2s are part of pipex and will move everyone to their own LLU without giving you a choice. Once you are on LLU then it is difficult to move to other ISP's because the MAC procedure does not work between LLU (so I have been told).
Any questions - give me a shout

Well Be have just been bought by O2 - it will be the basis of their broadband offering next year. They were bought for their technical expertise - simple as that. Be have a deserved good reputation, but as many have mentioned there are a lot of factors that will affect the actual speed you get. What is more interesting is that Be are trialling much higher upload speeds.

Do you mean RedTen Les?
It's a three year contract, if you finish early you have 14 days to send the PC back.
You have to pay the £698 for the 3 years up front (at a 10% discount) or sign a 3 year deal with a finance company.
The PC is very average and won't run the Vista Aero Glass effects.

Oh, that's not good. O2 are generally a mess.

I used to work with them, and they are a mess internally. Always wondered how they managed to survive when they split from BT.
