Thats not right what formate was the video in to start with ? Also how much memery do you have. There is a chance your dvd players wont play a -r disc and only play + r disc's but -r are the norm so chances are its not that.

what processor have you got? 11 hours to transcode is a very long time. what version of nerovision express are you using?

IMO it shouldnt take longer than 2 hours to do a high quality pass/transcode and burn as well (unless you are using poor quality disks that only burn at 4 speed) and to be honest 2 hours I would class as long

What player is it?
It might play avi native as a lot of them do. (I went through this)

Different manufactures back different standards for playback, JVC is -r only, might be worth checking the website.

I burn Lost onto DVD-R's using Nero Vision.
They start out as Xvid files. Takes about 1 hour for 2 episodes including the burning.
Only slight problem is they won't play in any dvd players or in the PC I used to burn them.
Conclusion - Nero Vision is crap

Anyone know of any other rendering/burning software that can do the job properly??

theres a few programs used for converting .. imo .. dont use nero express .. too long .. try winavi about 30 mins to 40 mins normal 2 discs avi .. as in xvids .. or try svcd2dvd again .. converts all formats .. avi mpeg .. again at a quick speed .. both programs will create the dvd-r folder Video_ts and Audio_ts .. then use nero to burn ..

hope this helps

used the winavi thing. converted it in 40mins.
nothing in the audio folder. tried it with the video only and put them in the video folder. burned a disk off and nothing again.

when i put my 1st dvd in my player downstairs (a recording one) it will show the main menu but not play the damn film.

any ideas?
