Torrent download now wont play

Downloaded a dvdrip avi file last night, now I have installed DivX 6.5 on the mac, but can't get it to play, Can't get it to play on w*rks windows boxes either.

Is it a corrupted file, or are there more codecs for the mac out there?

Does it not play anything (do you get sound or nothing at all)?
Does DivX come up with an error report?
I don't if you can get it for a Mac but VLC media player will play virtually anything.

VLC is available for Mac, so give it a shot. Might also be worth getting Flip4Mac as well, it'll allow quicktime to handle WMV files. Doubt that'll help in this situation, but it might aid playback of other files.
