I have the RC2 build 5744 installed on my HP NC6000 laptop and all works except my WLAN card the software installs ok but it no worky, also my SD card reader reads but I can't write to it for some reason. also the last RC1 build was fine but after upgrading to RC2 I can not install my PCMCIA CF reader and everything asks for driver disks.
I had no end of probs with it until I switched of the user control then everything worked fine except what I listed above.
If there is a later build out then what is it?

I've just ordered 3 copies of XP-pro 64bit (OEM, of course ). But they all come with a FREE upgrade to Vista Business when its officially released in January.
Not sure how its supposed to work, and if I'll look forward to the upgrade fecking up a good system. But I suppose everyone has to move on at some point.
Whats it like resource-wise? (graphics, memory, processor etc).

It thinks a FX-62 dual core with 4gb of ram and raid arrays and 2GB of graphics is "Good"

The main thing you'll need is a fair bit of RAM. 1GB minimum, 2GB is better.
You won't be able to upgrade XP 64-bit, it'll have to be a clean install. Not really a problem as it's the way to go anyway, but worth knowing.

I was looking at Vista on my mate's laptop last weekend... looks impressive.
However I hope prices are going to drop a bit (or be more sensibly priced for OEM copies!)... £300 for Vista Ultimate on Amazon!
John.

£300?
Thats a fair whack on top of the £78+vat for XP-pro OEM with the free upgrade (vista Business though £294.99 @amazon )
It's cheaper to buy a new hard disc and m/board to qualify for the OEM copy than pay retail.
