Hardware query - USB Flash drive

Hardware query - USB Flash drive
Ordered new car which has option for USB or Ipod connection. I have a 4Gb mini ipod and see now that USB 4gb sticks are available. Does anyone know how big they are likely to get and in what timescale?
Obviously a couple of 4gb sticks is more cost effective than going out and buying a larger capacity Ipod.

There was a post on here recently where someone had problems using a large capacity USB stick/drive with an in-car player as it was not recognised.
Its a safer bet that an iPod will work in future to be honest, as much as I hate iPods, unless you can get the USB specifications that the player relies on.

Matt,
Why not look at a PhatBox instead?
For those who don't know, PhatBox is a replacement removeable HDD unit that goes in the boot. MUCH bigger capacity too
Would be cheaper than the upgraded stereo and would look a lot neater.
I haven't got one, but I did look into it for my S4, and decided to stick with my Ipod option

ps here's some piccies
Phatnoise
Neat install replaces the CD changer

this is for an Audi and the Phatnoise and (as I've just found out) the USB connection is not available for this particular model. going to stick with the Ipod connection.

No probs, but the phatnoise is for the Audi - check out RS246.com and Audi-sport.net
Both have LOADS of documented stuff on the Phatbox/noise and also about USB stuff too Great sites
Hope this helps
