Hard drive test program for Maxtor HD
Managed to drop my Lacie 500Gb back up
One HD is definately toast from the sound of it.
The other shows a capacity of 467 GB even though its 250 Gb (something to do with the RAID array?) but cannot be opened up.
The HDs are Maxtors and I remember that Maxtor did a test program called Powermax some years ago.
The Maxtor website doesn't seem to work anymore - do they still exist or are under another name now?
Anyone konw where I can get it now, or is there another freeware program that can test Maxtors?
I've tried reformatting but it gets to only 27% after 5 hours and seesm to freeze.
I've switched SMART on the BIOS and it reports a sector fault if that helps.
