Mac 2 PC webcam chat?
Is there any way to use my Mac ichat and connect with MSN Messenger on a PC so we can both see the webcams? They don't seem to work together - or any alternatives? I can do text on MSN but not cameras...

Just looked but doens't support webcams. Seems hard to believe that people on Macs can't do cam chat with people on PCs....

Looked at Skype - and it says this...
That means we’re still working on it and that some features may not work. The Video Preview of Skype for Mac is only recommended for experienced users and should not be used on a production system that you depend on.
'not use on a system you depend on' what does that mean?

It means it's beta software, so there might be problems in there that could trash your machine. They are covering their backs in case there is a problem in there that they don't know about, that you find, and that causes your machine to die, or results in a loss of data.
It's a normal thing for them, or any other software developer to say.
btw. have a look at this. Seems to indicate that if someone is using AIM 5.9 on a PC then you can video chat to them using iChat.

Maybe one day MS will decide to allow MSN for Mac to actually have some of the decent features that the PC version has. The latest update to it let us show others what current song was playing in iTunes, oooh, that's really important!
I run Adium and iChat, as Adium allows me to manage all of the IM services I use, and iChat is there in case I need to vid conference with my co-workers. We have played with Skype though, and it's not bad.

Just tried the skype beta here (on Mac and PC) works fine for me.
Might have to download Fire, haven't used it for an absolute age but it used to be pretty good. Mercury Messenger wasn't too hot when I used it a while back though.

Have downloaded and installed Mercury which gives me the ability for cams - but can only hear from his end - he can't hear me although the spec for the system says he should be able to hear me as well as see. But getting a bit closer...
