Help transfering from DV tape to hard drive / digital please!!!!!
I want to transfer my video tapes from my Panasonic DV camcorder to my PC.
I have a rough idea, but would like some avice before I start shopping. I bought a firewire to USB cable that didn't work, so I guess I have to put a firewire port on my PC and use firewire to firewire. Can I just then download a driver and play the tape onto the PC?

The only way I have known is firewire to firewire.
After that it's easy. Either use the software supplied with the camcorder, or use Windows. If you have XP, as soon as you connect the camcorder via firewire, the Windows Movie maker can be selected from the list automatically shown. Then just select capture and control the camcorder from the program.
It really is quite easy to pick up.
