Think I have a virus?
Hi,
I was trying to get a video to play on my PC, and up popped a box telling me I had to download the required codec to play it. It didn't look suspicious, so I installed it.
Now I'm getting pop-ups, and there is a flashing icon next to my clock on the taskbar which, when clicked on, takes me to www.virusburst.com and demands that I download their software to clean up my PC. The icon by the clock also displays a critical error message warning me about a virus on my pc from time to time. Presumably it is this virusburst that is causing all the problems...
I've run a macafee virusscan, but it hasn't picked up the problem, can you suggest a solution as it's driving me insane?

Thank you. I downloaded Adaware and it seems to have done the trick.
I'm confused as to why macafee didn't resolve the problem though?

looks like I spoke to soon....adaware has picked up "malware" at the location "C:\program files\media-codec\pmmon.exe" yet can't delete it, and it won't let me delete it manually.....any ideas?

I thought about that, but when I turn my pc off, then back on, I don't get the option to boot in safe mode, it just goes straight to the password screen then opens windows. Is there some other way I can get it into safe mode?
