Depends on what you are after and how much you want to spend. We've got loads of them at work and they are good reliable machines.
I've got one of their laptops which has been an excellent machine, and a couple of friends / relations have their desktops which have also been faultless.
Personally I've been impressed. Not had to use their tech support yet myself, but I've heard from other people that it's no worse than anyone elses...

Had a dell laptop for 4 years now and the only problem I've had with it was a faulty power supply - phoned up and got a new one within 2 days.
Would certainly consider another.

^^^ Ditto what Iain has said.
We have got an office full of them ( 40+ ) and they are good solid machines and very rarely go wrong ( hardware wise )
Plenty of colleagues have them at home and same again, they are decent reliable machines.... A faulty graphics card was swapped within 2 days, albeit after making a phone call to India.
Some good deals to be had if you keep an eye on the website...

I've bought about 450 this year alone. Perfmormance-wise they are nothing special. If you want a top performer, buy an Alienware. But, the service is excellent, reliability is good and the price is unbeatable.

Should have mentioned I bought one of their 19" TFT monitors from Aria for £187 and its been fantastic, and the built in 4 port USB hub has been great.
Only thing I'd say against them is that they are quite expensive for RAM - best thing is to buy a machine with the minimum and buy more from crucial for example.

OK for a bog standard office workhorse but not suitable for anything performance minded. I`d consider them as the bottom of the range for PC`s. And annoying *******s to work on. Why do they have to wrap the HD`s up in those stupid plastic caddies ?.

Had a Dell Inspiron for a couple of years. Excellent laptop, and the only failure was fixed with a home visit.
Replaced it with a Vaio twice the new cost, and very dissapointed......
Should have stuck with Dell!

hmmm - i have a dell and its a reliable machine, but i feel sometimes they are a little overpriced and the amount of pre loaded unneccersary software is rediculous!
other than that good make - not the only top make though so keep an eye open!

What preloaded software? I didn't get anything pre-loaded on my laptop except for the operating system and a trial version of mcafee. The machines we got from them at work didn't even have that (just the OS). Just interested
I always thought they were really good value for money (not overpriced when compared to other manufacturers of comparable quality machines). You can get cheaper, but I've found that without exception, the quality suffers...

we buy nothing else ( have about 8 thousand machines) , they are a good work horse,
tell us what you want it for, for an office pc you will not go wrong with Dell or HP
if its a home pc build your own just for fun, really easy as long as you don't start pissing around overcocking it

I know of several people who have bought machines from similar outlets, and have been stung very badly, (and I've had to pick up the pieces being the resident computer expert - if only they'd asked me before buying them...)

Just to thread hijack slightly - about to buy a Dell Lappy for a mate. He's not very happy about paying nearly £60 for delivery. Do you reckon I'd be able to haggle with them over this?

Dell quite often offer free delivery as an offer, so you may be in with a shout.
Also - if you order from their website its usually cheaper to order stuff as a small business rather than a home user.
