Default Best mid-range PCI-Express graphics card?

Hi All,

Don't want to spend more than 100 quid really - what's a decent mid-range graphics card as this price point?

Can get cheap deals on ATI 1600 and GeForce 6600LE, but reviews don't seem to rate them. At the other end of the scale, don't want to pay big money for an SLI card. Will 100 quid mid-range get me something decent?

Thanks, Richard

Oh god, I'm getting sucked into PC talk again.....

Tech spec for this model suggests 12 pipelines; how do I 'unlock' the other 4? I can get one on eBay for around 90 quid - good move? Do the stock drivers still come with an overclocking utility?

I assume AGP is as dead as my last gaming PC?

Cheers, Richard

Thanks - and bugger, they have a 25 quid surcharge for deliveries to Ireland! I'll hunt around a bit.

Hhhhmmmm - http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2005/12...hire_x800gto2/ suggests the Sapphire squared version is unlockable to 16 pipelines. Need to dig around a bit more methinks. Any good graphics hardware forums to be recommended?

Thanks, Richard

Won't touch an 850XT platinum edition though which is what x800 ends up being - same memory, same chip etc.

Thanks - got a Sapphire one off eBay in the end for 130 delivered to Dublin, but with Richard Burns Rally included

Seems a lot, but not all, of the GTO squared versions have the 850XT chipset and can also have BIOS reflashed to allow you to open up the additional 4 pipelines.

Thanks Again, Richard
