do you mean the start menu thats normally at the side
put you mouse at the bottom of the screen and see if you can drag it back up as some time it can get squashed at the bottom

If there's a thin line at the bottom of the screen you've perhaps accidentally resized it. Hold the mouse pointer over the line till you can see a black arrow cursor then drag it back up to its original position. To prevent it happening again, right click on the toolbar and select 'Lock the Taskbar'
I think it crashed or something!
