Default Windows XP licence

I have an old laptop where the motherboard died. I stripped it out, reformatted the HDD and use it as a portable drive between home and office. The Laptop had a full XP Pro installation inc. XP key sticker on the underside, all fully legit.

If I were to build a new PC would I be able to legally use the installation key from the laptop that is no longer in use instead of buying another copy of XP pro?

Ta.

If it's a Full Retail Xp Pro - then yes, It is transferable.

If it was a OEM version - No.
