Which firmware are you running? As version 2.6 and above now support WMA playback on the PSP as well as other functionality for web browsing.

Oh the downgrading process... Yes I had to do that when I bought my PSP with version 2.0 firmware on it. Ran the downgrade and it came up with an error after 99% completed. Luckily it was part of the process and the PSP booted back up and restated it's version 1.5 firmware.
