I think all the items in your sent box are sent from you, if somebody else has sent them on your pc you will need to log in to outlook with their details to view their sent items.

writing a new email and sending it From: emailaddress of that mailbox
it doesnt appear in the sent items of that mailbox

Ah thats ok then

In the sent items folder right click the title headers at the top.

Go to customize current view/fields then add the "From" on the left hand column

Yes they should show up in YOUR sent itmes.
if you have someones mailbox setup within your outlook in addition to your own. When sending on behalf of, the "sent" mail will drop into your sent items, not the sent items of the additional mailbox.

ah so it does, its in the inbox cos i sent it to me & its also in my sent items. not exactly what is wanted though, that needs to appear in the mailbox sent items. Its a shared mailbox so who will know what is sent if they only appear in each persons private mailbox?

Have you tried setting up a "rule" in outlook which sends a copy to the appropriate sent box.
