Editing boot.ini file

Editing boot.ini file
After installing a second version of Win XP on a 2nd partition on my hard drive (disc error at the weekend, now sorted) I'd like to remove the 2nd version. I thought it might be a simple option on the recovery disc but now I've discovered it's a bit more complicated and I'm wimping out and just removing the 2nd version option from the startup screen.
Problem is which line do I remove from the boot.ini...
On the startup screen it's the bottom version I want to keep but it's not clear in the boot.ini which is which...
Here's the boot.ini.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
Thanks

OK, the default= line is what the bootloader has set to be the default OS.
First up, make a copy of the boot.ini file.
Then edit it, change default= line to:
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
(we're changing the parition option from (2) to (1)
then delete the first line under operating systems line.
Save the boot.ini file.
Reboot and all should be well in the world.

Cheers Markus, that's sorted it.
One of the other bb's suggested that I can now just delete the 2nd (partitioned d drive) windows folder - sounds a bit gung ho to me this..any advice?

Yeah, deleting the Windows folder on the D drive will remove the bulk of the 2nd install of windows.
Don't forget the 2nd install will have created new folders for the user profiles 'Documents and Settings' (should be on D and 'Program Files'. You might want to get rid of these folders as well.
