Default Counter Strike...that still go on?

Used to play a few years ago a bit.....now about to get a better pc thought i might try again - does it still go on and is it any simpler to get started? i seem to recall it was a lot of d/loading stuff to get going?

and is it still the same old thing or has it moved on in the last couple of years?

i still play it and it is still as popular as ever, though things have moved on.
If it was a few years ago, then steam might not have been around then, just valve.but essentially it is still the same just better, better maps, models, weapons etc, just now everyting goes through steam for buying, authen tication etc.
there are loads more versions of halflife and cs, sourse is the main difference, better graphics, rendering etc...higher requirements of your system though.

I used to play cs non-stop, but now have moved onto day of defeat as its more realistic in terms of actual gameplay and models etc, but still by valve and still based on the same game engine.

download the latest version and get playing...

3 types of CS now. 1.6, CZ, & CSS

i play CZ, find 1.6 boring and its all kids who play it mainly with loads of cheaters.

CSS is ok but still has its bugs although they are improving it with regular updates.

As got getting it if you already have a steam account you can download the steam client from www.steampowered.com

If you dont best bet is buying version of the game you want to play.

For 1.6 & CZ you can pick up a copy of condition xero for less than a fiver and CSS your better off buying HL2 although you can buy CSS by its self.

When you buy them on disk you get teh bulk of the game but still need to download a few bits a pieces.

Secret is finding a decent server to play that is well ran

vid if me and some of my clan playing cz
