Default OSX Help please

Basically, I've lost my "Network" icon from the top left of my finder. All the network shares and drives are there, but the network one is not.

I've logged in under another account, and it's ok on that one - but can't find anything to fix it on my account. I've also repaired all permissions etc, but that hasn't fixed it either.

I can click "Go" from the finder, and view it that way, but ideally I'd like it back and I can't drag and drop the icon into the drive list either.

Help?

TIA.

When you say Finder, am guessing you mean Finder windows, in which case it sounds like you're talking about the Network item in the sidebar of Finder windows.

Try this:

Switch to the Finder then go to the Finder menu and select Preferences. Select the "Sidebar" tab and see if the "network" option is enabled. If not, enable it. If it is, disable, then enable it. See if that helps.

Oops, classic case of w**k mouse, easily done that , it's just a simple click and drag away... A popular way of losing CDs too - lol

As I mentioned above, I couldn't drag it back in. The other drives etc wouldn't move to allow the network icon to fit in.

Markus sorted it.

Counter intuitive design by Apple there!

I'm guessing you went to the Go menu, and selected "network" which gives you a Finder window, you'll see Network and youer drives, plus the sidebar, so it's a logical idea that you could grab that Network item and drag it into the sidebar. Alas you can't do that
