Buildng your own website
I'm semi OK wth computers - and fancy the challenge of building my own website - looking around I can find free web builder sites and the same organaisation will then host the site for you for X£ per month / year etc
I've had a bash on a couple and can build something thats OK (one being blue voda)
However....should I try to create my website off frontpage 2003 etc / dreamweaver (no experience though) or stick to building a reasonably ok one with standard templates using one of the free build sites?
What are the pitfalls, reliability of these free build and then charge for hosting companies? or can anyone point me in the right direction to begin with
Ta

I'ld point you towards reading up on the technologies so you know what you are dealing with first
http://www.w3schools.com/
http://www.webdeveloper.com/ - part of http://www.internet.com/
http://www.w3.org/
Read up on this and you will be able to make your own informed decision about using a template or creating your own from scratch.
FWIW - I wrote my first web page in 1996 using vi on an alpha box
