Default Getting VHS onto HDD ??

The Scuba thread in NSR has prompted me to sort out some old footage I want to "preserve" by transfering it off of the current VHS format and onto the PC,
What's the easiest way of doing this, as there is no obvious "inputs" for such a thing.

Cheers

I have a DVD recorder (panasonic DMR-E55) as well but it's RAM so can't do it that way as the pc DVD re-writer wont read it (Pioneer DVR-106)

Your recorder writes to DVD-R too (I have the same one), write it to one of these instead and you can read the disc on your Pioneer DVD-R drive.

Use something DVD Shrink to quickly trim/edit the footage and burn back to a clean DVD-R, Vobs or an image file.

Will have to order some then as I'm in quarantine at the moment lol.

Best place to order? Overclockers, Staples, Maplins, Arai?

Do you want the bad news now then?

That machine as far as I'm aware will only take 4x DVD-R

The instructions of the DMR-E55 do state that they support DVD-R with a recording speed of 1X to 4X.

Although, I currently stick to Taiyo Yudens (8x) which work perfectly in mine. Problems have been reported with some other faster discs though.

Datawrite DVD-R's duly arrived this morning so I got busy tangling myself up in Scart leads to record the VHS tape onto DVD,
DVD player recognised the disc as a DVD-R
found the right combination of leads and outputted the video Sweet.
Played back the DVD in the Panasonic... sorted.

Or so I though.
Sticks the disc into my Pioneer 106D (The PC)
Blank disc..
Sticks the disc in my denon DVD player
wirr wirr wirr wirr nothing.

Any idea's?
