Default Anyone into retro computers on here

Just wondering if any people on here are into retro computers in anyway, whether it's gaming, hardware, etc, etc and do you frequent any forums. If you are, pop over to www.retrobsession.net/forum. It's been around for about six months with an online chatroom and very friendly peeps.

I had a few that I collected off ebay, vic20, c64, a few zx81s,speccys, atari 2600 but then thought its easier to play the emu's or updated versions of originals on the PC so typically play manic miner, galaga, r-type, uridium tons of great old games out there that are still *great* fun!

Emulators are ok but theres nowt like the original, the tactile bit, the smell, the authentic sound through a crappy Ferguson mono telly.

Mario 3 on the NES is still one of my favourite games ever, even today.

I believe the ZX-80 is a very hard computer to get hold of these days. Back in the early 80's Sinclair had an offer on for ZX-80 owners to upgrade to the ZX-81, if they traded in their ZX-80s.

Yep, you're certainly right there, fetching up to £300 on Ebay for a mint boxed unit.

Andy, if you're after R-Type for windows, a conversion was done and called F-Type, I had it a few months ago. If you can't find it let me know and I'll send you a link.

Oh and J4CKO, that's a question I asked on the forum and certainly agree with you.

I was playing an updated version of it recently on the PS2 I think and couldn't really get into it as much. You just can't beat playing the older version for some reason

Andy,

See what emu's are on PSP and get one of those to help with the trudge of the daily train commute!

You can get a perfect version of r-type for ps1. It comes with r-type 2 also and is called r-types.

I was playing it last week and it is still awesome. that bit on the first stage where the background and the music changes (where you go through the arms) = Total Class!

not surprised. You would get a variable not found message if you run that as you are missing the "" around the DAVID SMELLS

Had a C64 way back around 1984 or thereabouts sold it a few years after and managed to pick up around 1988 an Atari 800XL with disc drive, cassette deck and a mass of games most on floppys. It still works to last time i tried it

Also owned a speccy 128K +3 (disk drive version)

still got these consoles

Think that's it.

Power up the main weapon, let it go and let the chaos begin

Just remebering the days when I had my old Spectrum 48k I think it was Daley Thompsons Decathlon - I removed the metal plate off the top so that instead of having to furiosly hit 2 rubber keys I could just slide my finger backwards and forwards over the pressure pads..... man some of the records I used to get doing it that way were UNBEATABLE
