I use Zone Alarm Pro It's a firewall foremost, but also has anti-spyware capabilities as well, and can block pop-ups, so it's pretty good.

I use it inconjucntion with Solo Antivirus and so far I've not had any problems with infections.

I've run it on Windows 2000 Server, windows 2003 Server and XP Professional. OK so ZAP isn't meant to be run on servers, but it works.

There is a 14 day trial of ZAP and I think a 30 day trial of Solo, so it's worth giving it a shot.

I'd not recommend using Norton at all, as in my experience it's not that great.

Try avast AV its free and found viruses that Norton didnt. Also sygate a free firewall is good and more configurable than Zone alarm

Without a doubt use NOD32 for antivirus. My local computer shop swears by it, it is less CPU intensive than Norton and comes out at the top of the pile in all the yearly tests.

Their website is www.eset.co.uk

also see the awards http://www.eset.com/news/awards.htm

I use zonealarm in conjuntion with NOD32 as well. I have never had any problems.

It's no longer free since Sygate has been aquired by Symantec.

I highly reccomend Bitdefender Pro..

All in one protection (Firewall & AV) and it also tops various league tables for speed and accuracy.. BTW, always take these with a pinch of salt as differnt operating systems, hardware configs and the time you update the AV pattern files will favour some software over another...

I've just move from Zonealarm Pro and can say that Bitdefender does it all a little better...

I'm evaluating Spy Emergency 2005 Antispyware and I'm most impressed with the lack of activity I'm seeing.. I've not evaluated fully with various attacks.. but my surfing has been trouble free..

If you are using XP with SP2, don't forget the built in firewall - it is surprisingly good and certainly better than nothing.

Kaspersky Anti virus and anti-hacker (firewall) working together along with Ad-Aware and Webroot spysweeper installed and working is the ultimate set up in my experience. It may not be cheap but then again the best never is and what price security ?. Most lab tests show Kaspersky and NOD32 on a par for AV but add on anti-hacker and Kaspersky is unbeatable. Steganos AV suite is Kaspersky under licence with not as many features also.

http://www.kaspersky.com/products

I`ve used it on many systems for over 2 years now and never had a problem.
