'The proximation' is very good. It also blocks adds on pages, Java, animation and you can create rules so that it only blocks some, blocks everything, blocks every word starting with 'W' etc...

I've wanted to try Proximitron as well - mainly on my work PC - but it was a real drag getting it working...
The office network only allows web surfing via it's Proxy, which is a Micro$oft one, which only supports NTLM authentication, which generally means you can only use IE to do your surfing.
So I had to go off and do a bit of hunting to see if I could find some piece of software written by a kind hearted soul that would allow NTLM authentication to be proxied too. And Lo! I found it! Trouble is, it's written in Python, and isn't super quick. Which wouldn't be a problem - but the nice people where I work thought to provide me with one of those new fangled "Pentium MMX" machines with a luxurious 64Mb of RAM. Quick it isn't, and running an interpreted language program isn't fun.
Plus I have to run Proximitron too - going to the NTLM proxy authoriser, and the browser itself.
To say "Browsing was painfully slow" would qualify as possibly the largest understatement ever made.
It did work though! No popups at all!
