BT Voyager 205 ADSL router - unreliable.
'inherited' this router from the olds. Plugged it in and found out how to get it to work with my ISP.
Anyway, all works OK on initial inspection. However, quite (well, very) often the web page will be loading but nothing happens (as if there were no connection). Click refresh and sometimes it'll come up, sometimes not. Other tabs (using firefox) will load whereas some won't.
Any ideas? I've gone back to my speedtouch adsl modem for now which works perfectly so confident it's not the connection itself of the ISP. I want the laptop that we have to use the connection also but can't where this connection is unreliable.

ISPs have different MTU (maximum transmission units) e.g. AOL needs 1400 or it can't open sites like ebay without dropping out.
BT internet has a different MTU and so on.
If you give me your ISP I will tell you what your settings should be.
I take it you know how to get into the router manually e.g. 192.168.1.1

I go into 192.168.1.1 and the BT page is there showing the connection status. I try to go to 'advanced' to change these settings but 1st it asks me for a username/password for the Voyager modem ???? I don't know this info.

admin/admin worked. Now trying to find the settings, which I can't. Gives some limited ones. Found a site (hacking the 205 bt voyager modem) which gives links to loads of settings but not all in one place.
