Angry Why's my internet connection soooooooo bad

Done a few recent threads about probs with mp3 not being acknowledged by my dvd reader. Downloaded Service Pack 2 and that solved the problem...............and caused another. Now my internet is very intermittent, hesitant and sometimes like coming on here will have "done" written in the bottom left of the screen intimating that the page has been downloaded but all that appears is the heading.

Do I need further updates.

It's always worth going to the windows update site and switiching on Automatic updates. Sounds like you are well behind and your PC being well vulnerable to the lack of security patches. IMHO it's best to get this done ASAP.

Running Syntech Firewall, Spy sweeper and McAfee plus using Adware now and again.

But a little extra security is always a plus.

It's not just about extra security. It's about Microsoft fixing bugs in it's operating system. Also a hot topic at the moment is a fix to stop a certain graphics exploit which I don't think your firewall etc.. would pick up on. I take it you keep these updated?

Worth also checking for updates on your firewall and Anti-virus from the relevant companies websites.

You do keep your Anti-virus definitions up-to-date by downloading updates from McAfee?

All virus and spyware upto date.

Now have a problem running wma files from the net. Was just trying one from NSR and the thing came up error. Also, won't let me download any further updates for some reason....spends 20mins thinking about it then says not responding.

This is really getting on my t*ts and is the same problem I had last time.

Fecking Bill GATES GET YER ACT TOGETHER....Ahhhhhhhh

Are you sure the problem isn't with your ISP and/or Phone line provider? Sounds a weird problem and maybe coincidental.

Nope had the same problem last time and ended up restoring. Hence why I'm so far behind on the updates.
