Ditching Norton Internet Security 2006 - what next?
Having upgraded to NIS 2006, my PC is running like a dog and it's still let through 5 spyware apps. When I shut down the PC, I always get a 'ccApp program not responding' (something to do with Symantec) which is a pain in the backside because you have have to hang around and shut the warning message down manually.
The parental control facility is lamentable as well. Each time you fire the computer up and start browsing it loads a list of forbidden websites as long as your arm which takes a couple of minutes.
So, I'd like some recommendations please. I've got a trial version of Zone Alarms running at the moment which doesn't seem to be affecting performance and it picked up a shedload of spyware that NIS missed completely.
I'd like an all-in-one package that does, firewall, AV, spyware and spam prevention and doesn't bring my PC to its knees.
Muchios gracios

software firewall wise i think zone alarm and outpost are regarded as the best solutions, they are just firewalls though (zone alarm do a security suite also).
I think just using the anti virus part of NIS 2006 would cause problems (conflicts) unless you have a serparate Noton Anti-virus 2006.
My own personal choice software wise would be Outpost for the firewall, Nod32 for the anti virus and spyware doctor for spyware but that would cost a fair bit.
Could use the microsoft spyware package which is free, however it seems you need parental control also so a security suite would seem to way to go as Daz34 suggested
edited to add zone alarms security can be found here

I'm running Zone Alarm Pro, Solo Antivirus and Spyware Search & Destroy and I've not had anything nasty come in, however, I'm not using email on that machine, so can't say that things could not get on their via email.
The three things mentioned above don't seem to have had an impact on the machine, and I would notice as it's a fairly low spec machine.

Thanks all - ended up going with Zone Alarms Internet Secuirty Suite. I like the interface and PC performance seems unhindered. Lloyds TSB were also doing a special on it.
Only time'll tell how good it is - I'll let you know how it goes.
Cheers

My NIS hung, whenever I tried to change the config, but fine now. In conjunction with Adaware and Spybot NIS is excellent.
