apart from having two tuners which means you can record 2 progs at the same time while watching something else on your harddisk, it is basically a cut down pc with a Linux OS. the beauty of this is if you have a dish that can pick up more than one satellite like astra 19.2 east or hotbird 13 east, sirius 5east and thor at 0.8w then there is a ****e load of channels that you can access without purchasing a valid sub. conditional access modules (CAM)allow for different subscriber cards to be used, but this machine emulates all different cams in software. the codes or keys for the channels are freely available on the net. the box can also be permanently connected to the net via a cable/broadband connection and with downloaded plugins if a channel goes down it can access the net itself and download the latest key files so you have uninterupted viewing.
think of the french, italian, spanish, baltic versions of $ky with all thier movies channels, pay per view channels and football channels. live premiership footie on saturday anyone, not to mention those adult educational channels that come on after midnight

dave,
i am using a solid 1.1m Triax dish with a Manhatten 120 H-H mount. the receiver uses Diseq1.2 to move the dish. it fires a 70mA current up the LNB cable to move the dish. the mount has 32 stored positions for all the usual suspects, but you can specify another 32 positions via the satbox. with my dreambox i just used the motor setup page, input long and lat position and it basically does all the rest. i am watching from astra 2A at 28.2e right through Thor at 0.8w to Hispasat at 30w. lots of channels loads of movies, football and of course ****.
I am still using an old 0.5db yellow top LNB, but as the tuner in the dreambox is so sensitive i am pulling in channels that i wouldn't have got with my original nokia 9500. the tuner in the Relook 400 is supposedly even better than the Dreambox 7020 so it will be interesting to see actually how much better.
Voyager, **** me mate that going back a bit, to my old analogue d2mac days. programming cards for tv1000 and other channels.
