Question Changing bb provider, who to choose?

Currently paying 17.99 for 2mb with Tiscali, who in my opinion are pathetic. The service is always going down, their staff are hopeless and they were happy for me to be paying £7 more than i should have been a month.

So who do i go with now? I want atleast 2mb connection for similar money to what im paying now.

Suggestions and recommendations?

Wanadoo currently offering 8meg for 17.99 per month. Although you have a limit of 2G per month. Ideal if your not a heavy downloader!

All 2mb as cant get quicker:

Toucan for 15.99 uncapped
BT Broadband £1 cheaper but capped to 2gb.
Wannadoo is 14.99 with 2gb.
Madasafish is 17.99 with 5gb. or 25gb for 25.99 11.99/19.99 for 6 months
Virgin is 17.99 with 6gb cap or 25gb for 24.99
Zen is 29.78 uncapped and £40 connection
UkOnline is 24.99 uncapped

What do people think to any of above? Especially Toucan, Bulldog, Demon and UkOnline?

last i saw of bulldog they were on watchdog getting felched for poor service.

personally im with ntl and they do a 1meg service for 17.99 per month, but that will be upgraded to 10meg in summer foc.

the only thing with that is you have a 3gig download limit (I know its limited, it may be 4gig)

Thumbs up

I'm with Demon, although on the slightly more expensive HomeOffice 2000 at twenty-five quid a month (the basic service, Demon Home, doesn't give you any webspace).

Chose them because i has been on their dialup for several years and was perfectly happy with the service. The upgrade was flawless

A couple of nice things about Demon is that you get a fixed IP address, so you can VPN back home, or even access IP web-cams remotely. They also have a Demon Dial Companion service, so you can gain access from any phone - useful if you are travelling around.

I`m with Demon had a letter a few months back saying I was to be upgraded to 2Meg dont think I have yet though, running a desktop, laptop and sometimes the PSP. No probs at all been with them over a year now.

On another note I never phoned to ask if I could run a wireless conection, but will the know I am and will they try to charge me for the extra useage.

I'm with plusnet - £21.99 a month for 2mb.

You can also get it for £14.99 a month with the emphasis on web/e-mail at peak periods (other use - peer to peer etc will not be as fast) In reality, I've never noticed much difference when at the gf's house.

If you download a lot (30gb+) a month often they will probably not want you. If not, the service is great, I never have a problem with dropped connections etc.

I use mine partly for work too as well as other familty members. Most I've used is 6gb. But I don't do a lot of peer-to-peer or streaming at the moment.

if you do use plusnet, jandkatie in referal box would be great

have a look at www.e7even.com. currently they are doing double speed upgrades for free. if you do sign up, my referrel code is 707930

i started with a tenner a month on 512k with free double speed upgrades, so i was getting 1Mb for a tenner a month. now i moved up to 4Mb on LLU.

If you mean wireless router then no, its up to you how you use your connection in that way. They may charge on megabytes downloaded however, not 100% sure on their policies

bulldog's service, ie the internet is reliable and fast (I have the 2 mg svs) The only problem with bulldog is if you need to speak to somebody, it is very frustrating getting through to them. However once through to them they are generally helpful.

Cool

I'm on Plusnet Premier at £21.99 a month also. Supposedly uncapped downloads, but in reality, if you go over 100gb a month, they get a bit shirty, and you need to make sure you don't download more than 15gb during peak times, so try and schedule your downloads between midnight and 9am.

Saying that, I download loads, and the most I've hit is 70gb in a month, so unless you go mad, you are unlikely to hit problems. The service seems very good.
