Default this is wierd!

just swapped my bt voyager 100 usb adsl modem for a belkin adsl modem with wireless router. and my connection speed went from 1.1 mbps (bt say i'm to far from the exchange) to 12 mbps yes twelve not one point two . ?????.happy to have it like this but don't understand?
ps. the connection was dropping out everytime i answered the phone it does not do that now!

Well done, you've managed to go FASTER than the maximum speed for ADSL, you should patent your technology and sell it for MILLIONS.

It probably reporting the standard max speed of the modem bandwidth. Try running this:

the wirless connection speed is, g 802.11 54 mbps 2.4 ghz wireless

If its the speed reported in the contol panel of the adsl modem it can often be b0llocks. ADSGUIDE gives a good indication
