Wireless network - how do I get PCs to see each other?
Help please
I've managed to set up my wireless network to access the internet- the Netgear DG834 did it all itself really. Laptop is wireless, PC attached via cable to the router
How do I share files between the PC and the laptop, and print from the laptop to the printer thats attached to the PC?
All help gratefully received
Phil

are they on the same workgroup?
File and print Sharing allowed on the windows sp2 firewall if you use it
can you ping the other computer?
start > run > cmd then type ping (computer name)
if so
to connect to the printer on the other computer type (again using run > cmd)
\\computer name
this should display the shared printer and folders (printer must be shared however)
right click on the printer and click connect

Thanks Mike.
Turned out to be a personal firewall problem.
Pinging the computer name gave me the start I needed - used the IP adresses that returned to put them in the trusted zone in ZoneAlarm and now it all works!
Thanks again
