Default Dell 2001FP 20"

Just replaced my iiyama 17" lcd screen with a Dell 2001 FP20" screen but not overly impressed with the quality of the colours etc and general look on screen compared to the old screen. I am running an older 128Mb AGP GeForce 4200 card now and was wondering if that card is struggling to cope with the screen. I tried to up the resolution from 1024 * 768 but it just made matters worse.
Not sure if there is a problem with the screen as it normally gets pretty good reviews or nows the time to invest in a newer graphics card that can cope with higher resolutions as well.

I've got three of these screens and I've had no problems when using 128 mb cards at 1600x1200.

Maybe it's a faulty unit you've got

Surely a 20" LCD screen will have a native resolution of more than 1024x768, i imagine it will be somewhere around the 1600x1200 mark.

LCD will only look their best when ran at the native resolution, find out what this is and try that resolution, I really cant see it being the graphics card, as if that is broke it will affect all resolutions so would have shown up on your old monitor.

Could also be the driver installed, or the colour profile, in that your computer is still using the ones for your old monitor.

Thanks for the replies, agree the screen has a lot higher resolution that 1024 * 768, when i was upping the resolution to 1600 x 1200 the screen was showing some kind of interference on the screen.

I will have a play around with the resolution again today and see what difference that makes, if it still the same then i presume the screen has a problem.
